KEY AND UNIQUE FEATURES
- A benefi cial combination of Evening Primrose Oil and Marine Fish Oil, which provide the essential fatty acids DHA, EPA and GLA
- DHA, EPA and GLA are required for the production of essential prostaglandins, natural anti-infl ammatory compounds that protect against inflammation
- Ideal for those lacking in essential fatty acids due to genetic limitation, nutrient defi ciency, or high health requirements
- An effective combination to support healthy blood circulation, cholesterol and triglyceride levels, blood pressure, and maintain healthy platelet function
- Helps provide anti-infl ammatory protection for joints to maintain mobility and flexibility
- Important for prostaglandin functions, which balance female hormones and reduce distressing and uncomfortable menopausal and menstrual symptoms
- Manages specific prostaglandins, which nourish the skin, hair and nails and prevent essential fatty acid defi ciencies, which are associated with skin lesions, eczema, flaking, dandruff , brittle nails and thinning hair
- High levels of anti-infl ammatory prostaglandins assist in the management of migraine headaches

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q What are omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids?
A These are specific types of fats that are found in particular foods. Omega-3 fatty acids are usually found in fish,
seafood, seaweeds and green leafy vegetables. Omega-6 fatty acids are found in seeds and nuts, meats and grains. Because the modern diet is high in meats and grains and low in seafoods and green vegetables, an imbalance of these fats occurs. This imbalance causes the production of more inflammatory prostaglandins in the body – these are specific hormones that cause inflammation in the body. A diet high in omega-3 fats produces more antiinflammatory prostaglandins.
Q What happens if there is inflammatory activity in the body?
A Inflammatory prostaglandins produced by the body signal pain and encourage healing and rest of the affected area. Unfortunately, constant high levels of these prostaglandins may begin to affect the health of particular cells. Heart disease, damaged arteries, diabetes, arthritis and cell abnormalities are all considered to be disease processes resulting from long term high levels of inflammatory compounds.
Q What are prostaglandins?
A All prostaglandins have 20 carbon atoms, a 5-membered ring, and 2 side chains and are specific fatty acids
manufactured within the body from dietary sources of fats. They are called series 1, 2 and 3 type prostaglandins
depending on their actions, and are similar to hormones in that they stimulate target cells into action. In the
cardiovascular system series 1 and series 3 prostaglandins, help to prevent abnormal blood clotting, improve blood circulation, reduce cholesterol levels and protect against diabetes and cell abnormalities. These are produced in response to the consumption of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. Series 2 prostaglandins are produced in response to an overconsumption of omega-6 fatty acids, especially from animal sources and cause inflammatory activity within the body.
Q What is the omega-6 fatty acid GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid)?
A One particular type of omega-6 fatty acid, GLA, produces a form of series 1 prostaglandin, which has an antiinflammatory action on a variety of cells, particularly those of the reproductive organs, skin, kidneys and lung
tissues. This can assist in reducing inflammatory action in these areas, which can cause PMT and menopausal
symptoms, eczema, asthma and fluid retention.
Q What dietary changes can I make to improve the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins?
A Increasing the consumption of fish and seafood, along with green vegetables, nuts and seeds will help to reduce inflammatory degeneration of cells. Avoiding caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and reducing meat and salt in the diet will reduce the inflammatory action of these substances on body tissues. DHA, EPA, and GLA fatty acids are also processed optimally in the body when high levels of B vitamins and minerals are also consumed.
Q Are these oils tested for contamination with heavy metals or pesticides?
A All oils are rigorously tested for contaminants including mercury, cadmium, arsenic, lead and pesticides. Our
fish oils and evening primrose oil routinely comply with standards as defined in various Pharmacopoeia.
